Book Review: I Know a Rhino

During our weekly library visits, I spotted this mini board book from the Compasspoint Library. It's nice enough I thought I would like to share with you. :D

The title of the book is, 'I Know a Rhino'. By Charlie Fuge, Gullane Children's Book

I love the colourful and attractive illustrations, and decided to borrow it for Elric. It looks like he likes it too. He has been flipping through it over and over again since we borrowed it last weekend.

I took pictures of only a few pages just to show how pretty the illustrations are. As much as I would LOVE TO SHARE WITH YOU THE ENTIRE BOOK... I think you should go borrow the book to read!! (muahahahahha...)

This is how the book goes...

"I know a Rhino
We like to take tea,
I have two sugars
And Rhino takes three"

"I know a Pig
And we play in the mud.
We always have mud fights
But no one gets hurt

I know an Ape
And we keep in good shape,
Miming pop songs
And dancing along to a tape"

Then you will read about her friends Hippo, Dragon, Giraffe, Bear and Leopard...

"These are my friends
I know them, you see,
I know them quite well..."

"... because they
Live with
ME!"

I like how it rythmns and it is delightful to read it aloud for Elric. ^^
Love how the author describes the child imagines herself spending time with her toys. Makes me wonder what Elric is thinking about when he picks up his plush toys to cuddle and talk them!

Something interesting which you may like to note.
I was reading the back cover and it says,

"with non-toxic, soy bean based ink"

Out of curiosity, I checked the other books which I borrowed.
None of them mentioned the ink used for printing.
I guess this is a value add when you consider your next borrow or book purchase. :)
