Alphonse and I just brought Elric to the PD for an immunization jab last Wednesday. All seemed well until Monday (6th day) when Elric came down with fever.
We did according to what the PD said and administered the infant paracetamol but the fever hasn't subsided. On Wednesday (8th day) Elric developed rashes and a blister on his finger. As there is a Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease epidemic going on, we panicked and quickly brought him to the nearest GP as the PD clinic do not open on Wednesday evenings.
GP told us the fever is likely the side effect of the vaccine. Blister might be insect bite... (righhhhhtttttt... where did that insect come from when I didn't even bring him out?)
I came home and decided that Google is sometimes a better Doctor and those we have in the clinics. (sad truth) So I did a search on the web. I think it is VERY CRUCIAL for ALL PARENTS to be well informed of the MMRV and the side effects which their children may undergo. I ended up feeling disappointed with both the PD and the GP. The PD should have given us proper advise on side effects so that we can be ready for it.
Fever, measle-like rashes/chicken pox-like blisters and even seizures are side-effects of the MMRV Vaccination. (we were only informed about fever and not rashes/blisters)
Do take note that MMR vaccination is DIFFERENT FROM MMRV vaccination when coming to the side effects.
Sad to say, nobody kept us informed about it.
So I am compelled to share about it in the blog. Let me go do a bit more research and I will share it in the next post.
Meanwhile, hope little Elric will recover soon!

Doctors are stupid. Last time Cas went to the A&E cos she was having an allergic reaction, which included rashes etc.
ReplyDeleteThe doctor at the A&E used GOOGLE. I dont see why he studied so hard to become a doctor to end up using Google to make a diagnosis. Noob.
Even A&E doctors?? Gosh... This is so sad.
