Is Elric rejecting bottle after near 3 months

I have been noticing that Elric likes to raised up his right hand during his feed timing and when putting him back to bed. It seemed to me that he is playing and observing with his right hand. However things started to change during his feeding time. He wants to touch the bottle with his right hand and tries to push the bottle away when he wants to stop drinking. Initially, I did not allow him to have it his way, but earlier this week, he began to be very grouchy and even cry and scream at the sight of bottle.

Left with no choice, Kaye decided to try direct feeding him. And he latched on immediately! I am worried as Kaye will be going back to work soon and Elric has to be bottle fed by me for at least 3 feeds in the day. I was praying hard for wisdom to find the best solution.

Yesterday, I tried bottle feeding him again, this time round, instead of keeping his right hand away from the bottle. I decided to let him keep his hand on the bottle. And Surprise!

After his right hand was on the bottle, his left hand wanted to have a part.
Yup! Both his hands were on the bottle... with my hand supporting of course. Seems to me like Elric wants to feed himself!

He would suck on the bottle for 2-4 minute and the push the bottle teat away for a while and then back on again. This process went on for about 25 min. Well, I have to say that this feeding was longer than usual but it worked amazingly. He finished 140 ml of milk!

I was wondering if it could be that Elric wants to try feeding himself got angry when I kept his hands away. So... I tried the same method during my next feed and same thing happen again! He was receptive to the bottle so long as his hands were  holding onto the bottle.

I am not sure if I am doing the right thing by letting him hold the bottle. But at least for now, he is willing to drink from the bottle. :P
